Going green in a brown housing market

I am often asked, “I’m thinking of selling my home. How much value is there in making my home green?” There is no precise answer to that question in terms of value when you go to sell your home. But I can tell you that many buyers appreciate the enhancements as a “feel good” reaction when they are considering buying your home. And in this brown (read down) housing market, anything that makes a buyer “feel good” about buying your home is a real plus. Affordable housing in Boulder in not an oxymoron!

Don’t think you can afford to by a home in Boulder? You might be surprised to find out that you could qualify for one of the City of Boulder’s Affordable Housing Programs. Homes available to purchase include both new-builds, such as condos and townhomes available in Northfield Commons, Dakota Ridge, and the Peloton, and single-family homes such as Northfield Village. You may also qualify to buy a home that was not previously categorized as an affordable home through the “First Home” program. We just sold one to a client for this particular program. All of the affordable home programs include income caps but are designed for low to moderate income families.
It’s crazy what passes for low to moderate income in Boulder! I guess the City took into account…
